FoodCycle receives top prize from The Janus Henderson Foundation

Thanks to FoodCycle volunteer and Janus Henderson employee, Bruno Bachelez, FoodCycle have been awarded $75,000 as part of the annual Janus Henderson Investors Charity Challenge.

The Charity Challenge is a competition where Janus Henderson employees pitch nonprofit organisations to their colleagues and a panel of judges to win donations from the Foundation. The annual event has become a favourite tradition among employees because it enables them to steer a portion of the donations made by the Janus Henderson Foundation. It is one of the Foundation’s largest employee-led giving initiatives. Donations of more than US$196,000 were awarded to charities in the US, UK, and Australia.

Sophie Tebbets, CEO at FoodCycle said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be receiving the top award from the Janus Henderson Foundation Charity Challenge and we want to say a particular thank you to Janus Henderson employee and FoodCycle volunteer, Bruno Bachelez, for putting us forward for this amazing opportunity. The money will help us to bring our three-course community meals to more people across the country, supporting hundreds of people who may be experiencing food poverty or loneliness.”

Demesha Hill, President of the Janus Henderson Foundation and Head of Diversity and Community Relations at Janus Henderson Investors, said: “The annual Charity Challenge demonstrates the unique way in which we engage our employees in our philanthropic work and connect wealth with purpose. This initiative drives employee engagement and rallies our colleagues around a common cause that betters our community. It is a great example of how we are living out our purpose of creating a brighter future together.”

Runners-up include second place Food for Thought in Denver and third place The Little Princess Trust in the UK.

This year’s contest included 20 charity nominations and more than 2,100 employee votes. Since launching the annual challenge, the Janus Henderson Foundation has donated a total of US$1,928,716 to approximately 370 charities across the globe.
