We received lots of applications to run the iconic TCS London Marathon for FoodCycle in 2027. After reading through all the very eager applicants we have now chosen our runners!
Congratulations to Mark Passer and Poppy Cunningham!
Our superstar runners will be lacing up their trainers, clocking up the miles and raising vital funds to support communities across the country.
Poppy was first introduced to FoodCycle whilst working close to the meal in Marylebone. Wanting to give back to the community her team volunteered at the Project and she said she was blown away by the impact that the meal was having on the community. This will be the second time she has run the London Marathon and says:
“I am so excited to be running the London Marathon for FoodCycle! FoodCycle brings together three causes I care deeply about: protecting our environment, tackling social injustice and encouraging a positive sense of community. Day to day, I work as Head of ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) in the construction industry, focusing on making construction more sustainable in London. Through this work, I see first-hand how much resources are needlessly wasted, at a rate our planet cannot keep up with, whilst also seeing the wider social inequalities that exist within our communities. I love that FoodCycle tackles both issues at the same time, turning surplus food into something positive and creating a welcoming space for people to connect. Running the London Marathon (again) will be a huge challenge, but knowing I’m raising money for a charity that aligns so closely with the things I care about makes every training run worthwhile. I am excited to start fundraising”
Mark was first introduced to FoodCycle through his mother-in-law who regularly volunteers.
“I’m not a natural runner but I can’t wait to get in to my training and really see me push myself for the marathon and I’m so excited to be doing it for FoodCycle – a phenomenal charity. I know lots of people that volunteer there and they do amazing, amazing work. I’m looking forward to raising as much money as possible for them.”
We wish Mark and Poppy the best of luck with their training and fundraising and we’ll be on the side-lines cheering you on, on race day!
