JUST EAT CHRISTMAS MEAL APPEAL
We are once again delighted to be a part of The Just Eat Christmas Meal Appeal which is running until 3rd January 2022. Using its entire network as a force for good, the food delivery app is encouraging members of the public to donate £3, £5 or £10 when they order a takeaway and Just Eat will match their donation pound for pound, doubling their contribution. All money raised from the campaign will be donated to FoodCycle and the homeless charity, Social Bite.
In addition, Just Eat is drawing on its employees, restaurant partners and delivery couriers to volunteer, fundraise, and deliver free meals and Christmas essentials to those in need. The initiative is also being supported by Coca Cola, who have been making a donation for every Coca Cola drink sold on selected dates*
The Christmas Meal Appeal aims to fund at least 200,000 meals to feed those in need this festive season.
*Coca-Cola Europacific Partners GB will donate 20p for every Coca-Cola drink sold up to a maximum of £150,000 split equally between Social Bite (charity no. SC045232) and FoodCycle (charity no. 1134423) respectively.
Just Eat has supported FoodCycle for the last 5 years and below we hear from Just Eat staff who have lent a hand at FoodCycle Bristol and we ask our CEO Mary McGrath why she thinks volunteering is the secret to a successful corporate partnership…
ASK MARY
FoodCycle CEO Mary McGrath says: “Just Eat are a company that wants to create joy, just like us – which is why we have always worked so well together. They also agree with us on the importance of members of the organization participating in an aspect of our service. It was great to see Robin Clark, Director of Global Partnerships at Just Eat volunteering at FoodCycle East Acton with his son last year. By ensuring that everyone at Just Eat are able to understand first hand why and who they are raising money for, I believe we create a stronger and more successful partnership.”
JUST EAT VISIT FOODCYCLE BRISTOL
“So much thanks to the FoodCycle team for making my first experience in the kitchen so enjoyable. It felt so humbling to be a part of this project, especially in these unprecedented times. The volunteers were so friendly and welcoming, it was a fantastic way to spend an evening – I will be back!” Libby, Just Eat
“I volunteered with FoodCycle at their new Easton project for the first time a few weeks ago and I will definitely be going back. Everyone is super friendly and it is such a lovely thing to do for people in these weird times where they may have found themselves in difficult situations! I have been recommending everyone to go along and help out when they can!” Hannah, Just Eat
“I have volunteered with FoodCycle at their Easton and Lawrence Hill centers and would highly recommend it – it is both rewarding and a great way to gain insight into tackling food waste. The teams running the sessions are dedicated and knowledgeable. What struck me is that they can take one look at a random assortment of food waste on the day, and plan a three-course meal from it. Very inspiring!” Nicola, Just Eat
