Octopus Group has been one of our brilliant corporate partners since January 2018. Their approach to corporate giving maximises their contribution and ensures we can continue to nourish communities across the country. Octopus supports FoodCycle in several different ways including annual giving, staff fundraising, in-kind gifts and staff volunteering.
Our FoodCycle projects rely on the hard work of volunteers to make sure vulnerable people can count on us to provide them with a healthy, tasty meal every week. To date, Octopus staff have volunteered over 110 hours.
Octopus Giving’s impact does not stop here. Alongside this, for every hour staff volunteer, Octopus Giving donates £20 to be distributed between its four charity partners. Over the last financial year, the initiative has raised £21,960 for the partner charities. Which equates to over £5,000 for our charity.
This combined donation of hours and funding means that our projects have a reliable supply of volunteers to cook tasty meals and host our guests, as well as support with running costs such as equipment or kitchen hire.
Louise Skinner, Octopus Giving Programme Manager said: “We’re delighted that Octopus Giving donates £20 for every hour that Octopus people volunteer. For us, this initiative means a double whammy of time and money that we can give to our lovely charity partners and we know that it’s an incentive for our people to give their time to make a real difference.”
