Tips for taking a photograph of yourself on your phone
- Take the picture in natural daylight, either outside or by a window
- Think about your background, try to make sure there isn’t anything too distracting on show
- Avoid wearing white or black
- Make sure you’re in focus
- It doesn’t need to be too close up, you don’t have to take up the whole frame
- Don’t use filters, you don’t need them!
Tips for taking a photograph of something else on your phone
- Use gridlines if that’s an option on your phone to space your picture
- Make sure the most important element of your picture is in focus
- Embrace open space around the most important element of your photo
- Avoid zooming in
- Use natural light
- Make the picture candid, sometimes posed isn’t always better
Tips for making a short video on your phone
- Remember to keep your phone horizontal or landscape
- Film yourself in natural daylight, either outside or by a window
- Test your audio, film a short clip of yourself first and check the sound is clear and consistent
- Think about your background, try to make sure there isn’t anything too distracting on show
- Avoid wearing white or black or strong patterns
- Don’t feel as though you have to stand still, you can move around if it helps you to talk naturally
- Be honest, people will relate to you if you open up and share your honest feelings
- Tell us a story and don’t worry about going on, we can edit the clips
