FoodCycle Sheffield is a place to have fun, belong and do something simple but amazing! Get stuck in and be part of this exciting, fun project, and help us put FoodCycle Sheffield well and truly on the South Yorkshire map! We have seen first-hand the power of people coming together and making new friends over a hot meal!
Many of the people who attend come from MIND social café, ZEST, The Dry Road Café and South Yorkshire Housing Association. Some of these individuals lead chaotic lives and really enjoy coming along to a friendly place to share a hot meal, the chance to connect with other people and the opportunity to join in and help out.
The project runs with the help of brilliant volunteers. We are looking for volunteers to help develop the project and also those who want to help cook and serve the food.
Our volunteers are Sheffielders from all walks of life – everyone is made to feel welcome! We have big plans for the future of FoodCycle Sheffield and are recruiting volunteer hub leaders who can run and manage all aspect of FoodCycle Sheffield as well as volunteers who simply want to come along and cook each week. To sign up to volunteer, simply register and take the food safety quiz before signing up to one of our events. If you have any queries please contact us on [email protected].
Our weekly meal takes place at St Bart’s, Langsett, which has excellent links to community groups, an amazing kitchen and dining space so is the perfect venue for Sheffield’s first Hub. We offer a weekly free tasty three course meal to anyone who would benefit from this.
The Sheffield Hub pops up every Wednesday lunchtime at St. Bart’s between Primrose Hill and Burgoyne Rd, just off Infirmary Rd. Almost next door to Primrose View children’s centre, St Bart’s is a 1 minute walk from Primrose View/Langsett Rd tram stop, just head up the hill and turn left into the gated garden which leads to the downstairs part of the building where all the cooking takes place.
