Bloomsbury Hub (London)
Got some spare time on Sundays and fancy cookin’ up a storm with us? We’re always looking for new volunteers and anyone is welcome to help out – whatever your level of skill in the kitchen. To sign up to volunteer, simply click here to register!
Become a Hub Leader!
We’re also on the lookout for new Hub Leaders to join the FoodCycle Bloomsbury team, helping to not only run our weekly cooking sessions but also taking the lead in managing all aspects of our FoodCycle Hub, from co-ordinating other volunteers, managing relationships with food donors, and community fundraising, to community engagement, marketing, PR and social media.
Please visit our Hub Leader page for vacancies at Bloomsbury.
If you’re struggling and need a free meal on a Sunday afternoon, you can come along to the Somers Town Community Centre at 1PM – anyone is welcome.
Lots of different people can be at risk from food poverty and social isolation. Our Hub serves people in the community including many older people, providing a hot, nutritious meal in a friendly environment. If you could help us to provide a meal for someone today, please donate just £3.
‘The whole ethos appeals to me, you know I’m the youngest of ten kids and we didn’t have two pennies to rub together, so it’s in my ethos not to throw away food. Because I’m in the lower end of the market, you know, pensioner, don’t have a lot of money, I notice these things more than the average person does. Prices have gone up so much in the past year. There’s a lot of people round here that would benefit from something like this. The block across from us is full of pensioners. Most of them will live on their own and won’t have facilities to cook in.’
